The different terroirs of Rutini allow for the careful cultivation of each variety by reducing crop yield, pruning and handpicking grapes, always paying attention to every detail.

Rutini grows the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Garnacha, Verdelho, Verdicchio, Pinot Grigio, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Chenin Blanc and Torrontés.

TUPUNGATO

SURFACE AREA: 370 hectares (370 acres)

LOCATION: Tupungato Department. Province of Mendoza

VARIETALS: Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc. Torrontés. Gewürztraminer. Pinot Noir. Cabernet Sauvignon. Malbec. Merlot Syrah. Cabernet Franc.

ALTITUDE: 1.235 meters above sea level.

AVERAGE PRECIPITATION: 150-175 mm per year with snow in the winter.

SOIL: Alluvial, sandy, with stony surface and 0.4 to 1m depth. The high altitude and southerly location translate into a cooler climate, with high termal amplitudes.

LA CONSULTA

SURFACE AREA: 30 hectares (74 acres).

LOCATION: La Consulta District, San Carlos Department, Province of Mendoza.

VARIETALS: 100% Malbec.

TRELLIS SYSTEM: VSP (Vertical Shot Positioned)

PLANTING DISTANCE:1.80 x 1m.

IRRIGATION SYSTEM: Traditional Flood.

ALTITUDE: 950 meters above sea level.

AVERAGE PRECIPITATION: 250mm per year.

SOIL: Loam to loam mixed with lime, alluvial, with depth of 1 to 1.5 m.
Here the weather is colder, since it is located further south, and the thermal amplitudes are higher. In these climate conditions, Malbec reaches its optimum ripeness at the end of the season in April when the temperatures are lower.
This allows for wines of intense aromas, very good color and great concentration. These wines need to mature in new barrels to obtain wines destined for cellaring.

ALTAMIRA

SURFACE AREA: 70 hectares (173 acres).

LOCATION: Uco Valley, Province of Mendoza.

VARIETALS: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Verdicchio, and Verdelho .

IRRIGATION SYSTEM: : Drip irrigation.

ALTITUDE: 1,100 meters above sea level.

AVERAGE PRECIPITATION: 150-175 mm per year.

SOIL: Slit Loam- limey, rocky subsoil alluvial, 1.2 meters deep.
The area of 70 hectares will include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Verdicchio, and Verdelho vines. This area is situated further south than our other vineyards and is also within closer proximity to the mountains.
Here the thermal amplitude is wide, allowing the tannins to ripen well. The area also benefits from high quality water from the ice melting form the Andes Mountains.

VITICULTURE

The vineyard management team focuses on achieving premium quality fruit by keeping yields low, maintain excellent irrigation system and allowing grapes to reach their optimum maturity level before being harvested.

Rutini Wines currently cultivates a wide range of grapes varieties, but we particularly concentrate on developing Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay to their greatest potential.
