Amex for Foodies in José Ignacio: Gastronomic Experience

The American Express Beach Club was the setting for one of the most exclusive events of the season: the Gourmet Amex for Foodies cycle at the brava of José Ignacio. Rutini Wines was there to accompany two figures of the Argentine cuisine.

Gonzalo Aramburu and Pedro Bargero, chefs of the Aramburu and Chila restaurants respectively, were in charge of the proposal. Both are in the 50 Best Latam and are characterized by a subtle and elaborate line of cuisine. Aramburu worked in New York with Daniel Boulud, in Chicago with Charlie Trotter and in Europe with the three Michelin-starred Martín Berasategui. Bargero also had a meteoric rise and his work career includes names such as Mauro Colagreco, who recently made headlines for being the first foreigner to get three Michelin stars for his restaurant Mirazur, and David Toutain.

The menu was agreed upon. To put it together, they contacted their colleagues and friends in Punta del Este to find out which were the best products available. For the reception they prepared trays of sushi paired with Rutini Extra Brut sparkling wine. They followed with grilled prawns with seasonal tomatoes as a first step. For the second course, fish of the day: forkbeard with yeast and roasted leeks accompanied with Rutini Pinot Noir. The third course was lamb with charred cabbage in a clay oven, with yogurt sauce, served with Rutini Cabernet Malbec. For dessert, goat’s milk ice cream with cherries and beets was served.

The end result was a menu of varied textures that worked as an ideal counterpoint to the José Ignacio sunset.
