{"id":22070,"date":"2019-04-17T12:22:02","date_gmt":"2019-04-17T15:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/history-of-malbec-and-its-argentinean-imprint\/"},"modified":"2019-04-17T12:22:02","modified_gmt":"2019-04-17T15:22:02","slug":"history-of-malbec-and-its-argentinean-imprint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/en\/history-of-malbec-and-its-argentinean-imprint\/","title":{"rendered":"History of Malbec and its Argentinean imprint"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span data-sheets-root=\"1\" data-sheets-value=\"{\"1\":2,\"2\":\"Historia del Malbec y su impronta Argentina\"}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{\"2\":515,\"3\":{\"1\":0},\"4\":{\"1\":2,\"2\":14281427},\"12\":0}\">History of Malbec and its Argentinean imprint<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1445 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DSC_0887.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DSC_0887.jpg 1199w, https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DSC_0887-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DSC_0887-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DSC_0887-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The history of Malbec began when this grape did not even have that name and survived the phylloxera plague that hit Europe in the 19th century.<br \/>\nThen, a Hungarian pilgrim named Monsieur Malbeck was the first who managed to plant this vine separately in large plots and eventually took it upon himself to spread it throughout France, starting with Cahors and then Bordeaux.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the centuries, this varietal found its place in the world: Argentina.<br \/>\nBeing the grape variety with the most hectares planted in the country and the one that represents us, it is not strange that it deserves its own day.<br \/>\nTherefore, since 2011, Malbec World Day has been celebrated every April 17.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why this date?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to historical data, Malbec arrived in Argentina in 1853 thanks to a French agronomist named Michel Aim\u00e9 Pouget.<br \/>\nAt the request of then President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, Pouget directed a training center for agronomists, winemakers and viticulturists called Quinta Agron\u00f3mica de Mendoza.<br \/>\nIts formal presentation to the Provincial Legislature was, precisely, on April 17, 1853.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What does Malbec mean to our winemaking team?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5251 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/MDIPAOLA2..jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\"> <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/bodega\/#enologo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mariano Di Paola<\/a> &#8211; Director of Oenology  <\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Thinking about what Malbec means to us reminds me of celebration, happiness and pride that this is our representative grape variety all over the world. The enjoyment of knowing that when we work with it every day, we discover new paths that open up to continue surprising us. I like what it gives us, what it can give us and what we can potentially discover in the future.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5244 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/gfernandez.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/gonzafernandezgregorat\/\">Gonzalo Fernandez Gregorat<\/a> &#8211; 1st winemaker<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Working with Malbec is a constant challenge for me personally, as there is so much supply and quantity of wines on the market, it forces us to constantly search for innovation and improvement in the quality of each year&#8221;.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-5241\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/mdipaolaH.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\"> <\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nanidipaola\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mariano Di Paola (son)<\/a> &#8211; sparkling wine expert<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We made a 100% Malbec sparkling wine, which at the beginning was a huge challenge because we were advised by experts from Champagne (France) who took a long time to understand this varietal with unique characteristics that are only found in our country&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5242 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/vivienmoran.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/vivienmorvan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vivien Morvan<\/a> &#8211; French winemaker and ros\u00e9 expert<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;With each ros\u00e9 we make from this grape we discover a distinctive product with a unique profile above the rest, especially those coming from other parts of the world since we have an advantage that others do not have: the Malbec. Having this exclusive vine from Argentina makes the final product irreplaceable.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5239 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rutiniwines.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/ANALAURAFERNANDEZ1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\"><\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/a_n_a_fernandez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ana Laura Fernandez<\/a> &#8211; yeast bio reactor expert<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The first experiences in which we worked with the yeast bio reactor were to inoculate Malbec from our estate in Guatallary (Tupungato).
