Dark as a blackbird,<\/span> this strain, which is one of the most widely planted in the world, has inherited its name from the French word <\/b>merle<\/i><\/b>, <\/b>a bird dressed in jet feathers with bluish reflections, which likes to eat its small and uniform fruits.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Historical traces say that<\/span> it would be a <\/span>variety originating in the southwest of France<\/b>Merlot is linked to such famous wines as Ch\u00e2teau P\u00e9trus, produced in Pomerol, in the Aquitaine region of France.\nIn Bordeaux, Merlot is now more widely planted than Cabernet Sauvignon. <\/span>It is also widely cultivated in Australia, Spain, Eastern Europe, Chile, the United States and, of course, Argentina.<\/b><\/p>\n\n

What Merlot wines are like<\/b><\/p>\n\n

A Merlot varietal from the Uco Valley, 50% of the wine was aged in American oak barrels and 50% in French oak barrels for 7 months.\nIt has a cellaring potential of 4 years. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

It has an intense ruby color with dense purple tones.\nIts nose is intense and concentrated, reminiscent of fruits such as cherry, plum and spicy notes.\nThe palate is smooth, with silky tannins and a pleasant, perfumed finish. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ideal with legumes, grilled vegetables, game meats such as duck or rabbit, risottos and dishes containing mushrooms.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Rutini Merlot Collection<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n\n

Made with grapes from our Altamira estate, this varietal is aged in French oak barrels, 50% new and 50% second use.\nIts aging potential is 10 years. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

At a glance, it is <\/span>Intense red with violet hues.\nIt has a generous and aromatic nose (red and black fruits, such as blackberry) and suggestive accents of cocoa and tobacco.\nCandied notes appear on the palate.\nIt is firm, full-bodied, complex and elegant at the same time.\nA classic Bordeaux Argentine version. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

It combines very well with <\/span>grilled and baked red meats, hard cheeses such as Gouda or Parmesan, dishes with mushrooms and wild mushrooms, Patagonian lamb, meatloaf, and creole stews seasoned with thyme or rosemary.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Single Vineyard Altamira Merlot<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n\n

Made entirely from Merlot grapes from our Altamira estate, this wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% new and 50% second use.\nIt has a cellaring potential of 15 years. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Its color is <\/span>Intense and brilliant ruby.\nBlack fruit accents (blackberries) burst on the nose, along with other aromatic nuances (smoke, leather) and the elegant vanilla framework that makes it very seductive.\nOn the palate, the classic plum notes become part of a succulent and tasty entry, with firm yet well-integrated tannins.\nIt is an expressive red wine with accomplished varietal typicity. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

It goes very well with Italian cuisine, with dishes where the umami character predominates, white meats, duck with olives, charcuterie and mature cheeses, grilled and smoked vegetables.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
