Hidden within the Department of Tupungato, Gualtallary is a high altitude secret where some of the best wines of the Uco Valley region are born.
\nRutini Wines has one hundred and fifty hectares where it grows Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Torront\u00e9s, Gew\u00fcrztraminer, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
\nUnder the direction and care of winemaker Mariano Di Paola<\/a>, these grapes are transformed into extraordinary wines with a unique personality.
\nThis region today has 2250 hectares planted, of which approximately half are Malbec and the rest is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
\nAnyone who has tasted varietals or blends made from these grapes knows that Gualtallary is an exclusive place where excellence is cultivated.
\nThe thermal amplitude, the composition of the soils and the abundant sunshine are some of the features that make up the unique profile of this region within the Uco Valley.
\nRutini Wines’ new plant in Tupungato sources some of the most prized grapes from its Gualtallary estate to make its wines.
\nGualtallary is a district where crops are grown at an altitude range from 1080 meters above sea level and up to 2020.
\nThese 1000 meters of variation are the ones that allow the thermal amplitude that characterizes this microclimate that challenges the vineyards to concentrate the best of themselves in each grape.
\nUntil the 1990s, Gualtallary was a region where plum and walnut trees could be seen spreading over the slopes of stony soils.
\nThese traditional crops of the area paved the way for the cultivation of vines in cooler and more austere conditions.
\nWhat was sought was a grape that would translate the intensity of that microclimate.
\nFrom those early years in the 1990s when cultivation began to our 2018, a lot of water has passed under the bridge.
\nMany wineries have ventured into the region and have achieved unique wines that represent this magnificent terroir<\/em> that unfolds in the Uco Valley with the Tupungato volcano as a lookout.
\nIt is said that Tupungato in the language of the native peoples means “viewpoint of stars”.
\nGualtallary shines under that starry sky at the foot of the mountain range and Rutini Wines celebrates in its wines the unique nuances that this arid and silent land gives us in each harvest.  <\/p>\n
