Exceptional ratings by Descorchados Guide

Early this year renowned Guía Descorchados by Chilean journalist Patricio Tapia recognized some of our labels in various price points. Here are the ratings awarded and some pairing suggestions to liven up your senses.

Apartado

Apartado Gran Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 was awarded an amazing 96 points, just like in the 2023 edition, within the best Cabernet Sauvignon category. Its balance and complexity make it an ideal red to match, for instance, pork and creamed corn tamale.

Apartado Gran Malbec 2020, which boasts 94 points, is a bold red featuring ample fruitiness and remarkable power, thus ensuring a successful partnership with grilled meats and stews.

Apartado Gran Chardonnay 2021 was also awarded 94 points. Characterized by tropical fruit notes and an unctuous mouthfeel as a result of its long oak-aging, this full-bodied white has what it takes to pair very nicely with sea-fish, poultry and blue cheese.

Another top-performing wine is Apartado Gran Blend 2020 with a rating of 96, same score as in 2022. We suggest lamb ravioli with truffle and blue cheese sauce for this red assemblage displaying big muscle within an amiable tannic structure.

Single Vineyard

Each Single Vineyard Gualtallary Malbec 2021 and Single Vineyard Altamira Malbec 2021 was granted a high rating by Descorchados. The former got 96 points while the latter 95 in addition to an acknowledgment of best quality among other contestants from Altamira. Both malbecs, each with its own terroir-driven peculiarities, will surely elevate your culinary experience and make perfect matches for a potato and bacon terrine with assorted vegetables.

Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2021, also rated 95 points within the best Cabernet Franc category, gives away a fragrant nose of fresh and candied red fruit alongside a round and sophisticated palate, a profile for which we recommend spinach gnocchi with sun-dried tomato pesto.

Colección Rutini

This price point features 94 points for all three Cabernet Franc 2021, Rosé de Malbec 2023 and Gewürztraminer 2023. Furthermore, the Cabernet Franc was included in the list of best-performing Cabs and the rosé was distinguished for its high quality within the category.

The Cabernet Franc stands out for its robust palate without compromising its plushness and gentle flow; a chard and kale pie with a side dish of tofu, portobello mushrooms and carrots will guarantee a delightful pairing. The freshness and lightweight of the Malbec Rosé are the prelude to a joyful combination with prawns à la Provençale. Finally, such a particularly fragrant variety as Gewürztraminer -showcasing notes of flowers and stone fruit along with a spicy edge- will undoubtedly agree with a sour-sweet pork shoulder filled with smoked bacon, baked apples and pistachios.
