Finca La Consulta, in the Heart of the Uco Valley: Wine Destination
This is one of our three estates at the foot of the Andes Mountains, planted entirely with the flagship variety of Argentina, about 30 hectares of pure Malbec.
The district of La Consulta, in the Department of San Carlos, Mendoza, gave its name to this farm where it has been produced for some 92 years, with the blessing of sunny summers and scarce rainfall.
With only 250 mm of rain per year, the area enjoys a climate that allows optimal ripening of the grapes that will give rise to some of our best Malbecs. some of our best Malbecs.
It is located in the most traditional part of La Consulta, with a wonderful landscape dotted with avenues and small streets very typical of the region that surround it.
The wide temperature range between day and night and controlled irrigation prolong the grape cycle and allow for wines with an excellent balance of sugar and acidity.
These vineyards grow at 950 meters above sea level, in stony soil with very good drainage and using the trellising system. This system of vine guidance consists of its distribution through wires supported by posts, an image that refers to the trellises of the beds, hence its name.
Irrigation is done by the traditional method called blanket or also known as flood irrigation. In this technique, the water is allowed to advance over the flat land without a drainage channel, letting gravity do its work.
The plants are very well adapted to the area. Due to their age, they have low production, approximately 70 quintals per hectare, and because of their high quality, they are destined for high-end wines and those designed for cellaring, including Encabezado Malbec and the Malbec blend of the Antología y Apartado.
Finca La Consulta, with its almost centennial history, is part of our identity, of the heart of the Uco Valley and of the personality of our wines.
