Great awards from the Descorchados Guide
This year, the prestigious Descorchados Guide by Chilean journalist Patricio Tapia has recognized some of our labels in different categories. We share the scores obtained and recommend some some dishes to appreciate the outstanding wines to the fullest.
Line Box
Grand Cabernet Sauvignon section 2020 obtained, as in last year’s edition, no less than 96 points and was distinguished in the ranking of the best Cabernet Sauvignon. and was distinguished in the ranking of best Cabernet Sauvignon. Its balance and complexity make it an ideal red to enjoy with pork tamales and humita, for example.
Apartado Gran Malbec 2020 with 94 points is a wine of great concentration, ample fruitiness and power that pairs very well with roasted meats and hearty stews.
Apartado Gran Chardonnay 2021 was also awarded 94 points. Its notes of tropical fruits and its unctuousness in the mouth – due to the prolonged barrel aging – pair very well with seafood, poultry and blue cheeses or Roquefort.
With equal performance, Apartado Gran Blend 2020, obtained 96 points as in 2022This is a wine that, due to its great structure and subtle tannins, harmonizes very well with lamb ravioli with truffle sauce and a touch of blue cheese.
Single Vineyard Line
Both Malbecs Single Vineyard Gualtallary Malbec 2021 y Single Vineyard Altamira Malbec 2021, received high scores in this guide. The Gualtallary Malbec 2021 received 96 points, while the Altamira Malbec 2021 received 95 points and was distinguished as one of the best wines from that terroir. Both will be perfect matches for a potato and bacon terrine with a bouquet of green leaves. Each of these Malbecs, with their own characteristics contributed by the selected parcels of each terroir from which they originate, will elevate the gastronomic experience.
The Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2021, also with 95 points and in the ranking of the best Cabernet FrancThe nose offers fragrant accents of fresh and jammy red fruit, while in the mouth its round and distinguished profile stands out. This is why an accompaniment of spinach gnocchi with sun-dried tomato pesto will be a great opportunity to savor it.
Rutini Collection Line
In this line, the following were highlighted Cabernet Franc 2021, the Malbec Rosé 2023 and the Gewürztraminer 2023, all with 94 points. In addition, the Cabernet Franc was included in the ranking of the best of its variety and the rosé was recognized as one of the best in its category.
The Cabernet Franc is firm on the palate but round and fluid, so we suggest a chard and kale tart with chunks of tofu, portobellos and carrots. In the case of the Malbec Rosé, its freshness and volume announce a wonderful combination with prawns Provençal style. Finally, such a particular variety as Gewürztraminer, with its notes of flowers, white fruits and spicy touch, would go well with a sweet and sour bondiola stuffed with smoked bacon, baked apples and pistachios.
