Rutini Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2016: Number 11 of the Best Wines of 2019 According to Decanter Magazine

Rutini Wines kicked off 2020 with excellent news: Decanter magazine has included Rutini Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2016 within its selection of the best wines of 2019. With 95 points score, this Cabernet Franc is ranked number 11 in the general ranking and first place within Argentine wines.

Instead of simply making a list of the best rated wines of the year, Decanter conducts a survey among its specialists asking about the wines they enjoyed most throughout 2019. From that selection 117 wines emerged and were then organized into three categories: Classic (a premium, textbook wine style), Offbeat (unusual grape, winemaking method, region or unearthed gem) and Value (a wine that punches above its weight at 25 pounds or under). That selection of wines from 23 countries was subjected to a blind tasting which assigned a score to each bottle. The jury, however, did not know to which of the three categories each wine belonged. This methodology ensures an unprejudiced appreciation of each specimen and avoids the weight of industry’s big names, giving space to wines that have less distribution and circulation.

The jury that rated the wines last October was composed of three authorities within the world of wine: Sarah Jane Evans MW, Dirceu Vianna Junior MW and Tina Gellie, editor of Decanter for the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Rutini Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc was included as a Classic and obtained 95 points from the three judges. It was described as a wine of wonderful complexity: seductive, classy and elegantly scented with notes of blackberries, coffee beans and sweet spices. They recommended taking it between 2020 and 2026.
