The ten best Cabernet Franc in the world according to Decanter magazine
Rutini Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2016 was ranked fourth in Decanter magazine’s list of the ten best Cabernet Franc in the world. Decanter magazine.
This Rutini Wines varietal had already been highlighted in the eleventh position by this prestigious publication within the best wines of 2019 worldwide.
On that occasion it obtained a score of 95 points and occupied the highest position among Argentine wines.
Now this Single Vineyard is on the podium of the five best Cabernet Franc, this wonderful grape from the Loire Valley.
Winemaker Mariano Di Paola and his team have every reason to celebrate: this Cabernet Franc is once again the best in Argentina according to the parameters of one of the most recognized voices in the wine world.
Internationally, it was measured against important exponents from Italy, South Africa, California and France.
Georgina Hindle, regional editor of Decanter in France, was in charge of making the selection.
The jury that assigned 95 points to this wine in October 2019 was composed of Sarah Jane Evans MW, Dirceu Vianna Junior MW and Tina Gellie, Decanter’s editor for the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
That list of the best wines of 2019 was published in the January 2020 issue of Decanter.
There it is described as a wine of wonderful complexity: seductive, classy and elegantly perfumed with notes of blackberries, coffee beans and sweet spices.
They recommend drinking it between 2020 and 2026.
Hindle notes that this grape, while perfectly suited to the climate of the Loire Valley area, also does well in slightly cooler climates, such as Mendoza, California, Virginia and Stellenbosch.
The Rutini Wines vineyard in Gualtallary has given birth to this Cabernet Franc, which after 12 months of aging in French oak barrels continues to evolve positively and continues to receive recognition.
