Vintage 2024
The 2024 harvest season has been a unique experience for our winery in which the influence of the weather, the yields and the expertise of the entire team stood out. Mariano Di Paola, Chief Winemaker notes “It was a pleasant harvest because it started differently than usual, we had very warm months that delayed the ripening of the grapes but finally, we obtained a great maturity of sugars and especially aromas.”
It was a season of unusual weather: it was characterized byweather: it was characterized by a cold spring with a cold spring with many episodes of zonda wind, especially during especially during fruit set, then gave way to a very hot season. between the end of January and the beginning of February, at the height of veraison. This meant a slowdown in photosynthesis, given that the optimum temperature for the plant is between 18°C and 25°C. As a consequence of this period of high minimum and maximum temperatures, the vine enters a kind of lethargy, producing sugar in short periods of time.
After this stage, there were some rain showers with a drop in temperature. This resulted in an acceleration of the maturationThis involved a great deal of coordination between the different areas, which allowed the harvest to begin at the optimum point of maturity.
The marked differentiation of expression between zonesThe marked differentiation of expression between zones gave more aromatic wines with a fluid mouthfeel in areas such as El Cepillo or Altamira. El Cepillo or Altamira, while in Gualtallary, the wines displayed their full qualitative potential on black fruit, ripe mouthfeel and structured but elegant tannins..
“We can say that this year’s wines will be very interesting: balanced, with a marked presence of fresh fruit and pleasant tannins. The fruity intensity of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec together with the Cabernet Franc and Merlot stand out, while the whites stand out for their good typicity and aromatic clarity”; Mariano closes.
